I love to know the benefits of the food I put in my body, below is a breakdown of the ingredients used in this recipe and the benefits you will find in each one of them.
Blueberries are a great source of antioxidants, protecting your body against oxidation and so as result a great anti-cancer food to include into your diet. Have them on top of your porridge, in your pancakes or in your cookies, there are so many ways in which you can have them.
Blueberries have another important property that is not often mention, they contribute to a healthy brain, improving memory and delaying mental ageing. For more information click here.
Such a versatile grain, oats can be used in so many preparations, from pancakes to oatmeal (sweet and savoury), cookies and cakes. It is often the case that when starting the day with oats you will be able to sustain a good amount of time without feeling the need to reach for food. Although they are high in carbs, those are the kind you want in your diet. Plus, it comes with lots of vitamins and minerals, as well as fibre. The fibre beta-glucan found in oats forms a gel in your gut which is known to reduce cholesterol level, blood sugar, increase satiety and promote the development of good bacteria
Anyone wanting to reduce their sugar intake will probably consider dates as a bit of a miracle. Dates allow you to satisfy your sugar craving while being so good for you. Full of fibre, helping you to fill full longer (just like oats) and to keep blood sugar levels under control, they are also a good source of antioxidants. Fun fact: dates have shown to promote labour in pregnant women! Source.
