In this article we will enjoy some delicious Vegan Treats from the beautiful island of Gili Air. My French Vegan Cuisine has taken on a Balinese twist since I arrived to Bali; with different tastes, smells and textures, which have given me a precious insight into the country’s culture.

Last November I was lucky enough to spend 3 days in the beautiful island of Gili Air which is a 4 hours boat ride from Bali (there are also boats that can take you there in less than 2 hours). Made of turquoise water and white sandy beach, this is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, even more since no motors-vehicles are allowed. It feels that time has stopped, and all is incredibly calm and peaceful.
Even though Gili Air is a small island (you can walk around the island in less than 2 hours) I will recommend that you stay minimum 3 days as you will find it difficult to leave this charming little treasure.
There are plenty of places to relax and enjoy the calm and cool vibe of the island with great bars and restaurants, most of them offering vegetarian and vegan dishes. Below are two of the places I have enjoyed the most.
All Day Long in Ardi Betlza Bungalow.

Ardi Beltza Bungalow Facebook
Follow the sound of the coolest music in the island and you will find yourself in the wonderful Ardi Betlza Bungalow. The vibe there is like nowhere else, relaxed & fun, small & intimate, the staff is genuinely chilled and friendly making you feel as if you were meeting up with some old friends.
Breakfast is my favourite time of the day and I was not disappointed with the vegan options on the menu. Pancakes, toasts topped with peanut butter, mueslis, fruits platters and delicious and nutritious smoothie bowls:

Dragon Fruits & Muesli Bowl
On my first day I had a colourful Muesli bowl served with :
- coconut milk
- topped with granola
- full of watermelon
- dragon fruits
- and bananas

Dragon fruits and coconut smoothie bowl
The smoothies are equally as good, I enjoyed a Dragon Fruits & Coconut Smoothie Bowl with a generous sprinkle of :
- sunflower seeds
- goji seeds
- crunchy granola
- cranberries
- some juicy pineapple
- and tasty bananas.
The Tastiest Bananas
I could eat bananas for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Bali! They have become my favourite fruits. They taste quite different from the ones I have back home in the UK, those bananas are smaller, sweeter, and tastier! Like a delicious caramel candy 😊. To my surprise the green bananas happens to be the tastiest ones.
Watch the Sunset while enjoying some delicious Vegan Desserts.

Sunset in Gili Air
Sited comfortably in a bean bag chair facing the ocean, with a refreshing turmeric kombucha in my hand and a delicious vegan chocolate tart by my side, white watching the sun set … this is what happens when you go to Mowie, the best place to watch the sunset in Gili Air while enjoying some delicious vegan desserts.

Vegan Chocolate Tart
The breathtaking sunset turned my attention away from their delicious Vegan Chocolate Tart but only for a few minutes 😊.
- Under the rich chocolate ganache lies a delicious and gooey banana and peanut butter filling, the base is a raw crust made of almonds and walnuts.
If you prefer something more fruity then you will want to try their Vegan Chocolate & Dragon Fruits Cheesecake, it is made from :
- cashew nuts
- raw cacao powder
- dragon fruit
- and a delicious almond-date crust.

Travelling with Travel In Indo
My stay in Bali was organised by Travel In Indo – they made my trip in Bali a very special one.
I think that the fruits bowls here in Bali are delicious, because some of local fruits are very tasty (specially banana, watermelon and pineapple) and the color of them are really amazing (dragon fruit)
Definitely, Bali is a perfect island to try delicious healthy breakfast and Gili Air a little paradise to taste them.
I will definitely come back for more of this delicious treasures 😉
